Cleancult, a leading non-toxic, zero waste cleaning brand on a mission to disrupt the cleaning industry, announced today that several of their plant-based cleaning products have earned a Carbonfree Product Certification. With this seal, Cleancult is recognized as taking responsibility for their products’ carbon footprint while helping to hasten a market transformation to a low-carbon future. In partnership with the Carbonfund, Cleancult will be able to better quantify, reduce and offset any greenhouse gas emissions associated with their products’ life cycle. To date, Cleancult has helped to offset 1,200 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, and with this new certification, the company hopes to increase that number even more.

Awarded products include the All Purpose Cleaner, Liquid Dish Soap, Liquid Hand Soap, and Liquid Laundry Detergent. Cleancult’s full portfolio of products, including the four refill carton categories, are formulated with non-toxic, plant-based ingredients using their signature, coconut-powered CocoClean Technology. Cleancult sources nature’s finest, most powerful ingredients to produce breakthrough, science-backed formulas. In addition to these biodegradable elements, Cleancult’s packaging is 100% recyclable with their paper-based milk carton refills and plant-based leak free caps. By putting cleaning products in paper-based packaging, it reduces plastic waste by 90%, and investing in a refill model can also minimize consumers’ carbon footprints.

Carbonfund, a leading provider of climate solutions for individuals and businesses, has developed the Carbonfree Product Certification as a globally-recognized carbon neutral product label. By determining a product’s carbon footprint, reducing that footprint where possible, and offsetting the remaining carbon emissions associated with the product, Carbonfund.org has created a meaningful, credible, and environmentally beneficial way for businesses to provide carbon neutral products to their customers. The Carbonfree Product Certification program requires that products meet Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) standards from raw material extraction to use and disposal. In order to receive this accreditation, businesses must assess the potential environmental aspects and potential aspects associated with a product (or service) by compiling an inventory of relevant inputs and outputs, and evaluating the potential environmental impacts associated with those inputs and outputs.

“Our mission at Cleancult is to make cleaning cleaner from start to finish – from our packaging, refill system, to our plant-based ingredients,” said Co-Founder and CEO Ryan Lupberger. “The Carbonfree Product Certification is an important piece of our full circle system to deliver our customers eco-friendly, carbon neutral products. We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint and recognize our responsibility as a company to do everything we can to leave the planet in a better place than where we found it.”

In addition to the launch of this program, Cleancult’s products will now also possess the Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly label, which highlights products that meet sustainability standards and help preserve the natural world. Eligible products with the label allow consumers to shop more mindfully and sustainably on this global e-commerce platform.
