Yoloha Yoga Expands Environmental Commitment through Carbonfree Partnership

March 14, 2022

Yoloha Yoga is a family-owned company that was founded in pursuit of a sustainable practice.  The journey began in 2013 with Chris Willey, who began hand making yoga mats in his garage with the most sustainable materials he had on hand. By combining cork with recycled rubber, Chris created the world’s first cork yoga mat. Today, Yoloha has extended the family to include a small team based in Charleston, SC, shipping their eco-friendly cork yoga products all over the world.

Never forgetting the roots of their brand, Yoloha has remained dedicated to reducing their environmental impact through constant innovation of their products, materials and methods.  In early 2021, they joined our Carbonfree Small Business Partnership program to neutralize their business operating emissions. Their offset purchase supports our reforestation projects.

“As an outdoor enthusiast, business owner and father I want to ensure that we leave our planet healthy for future generations to enjoy. As our business grows and we ship more products all over the world I appreciate how Carbonfund makes it easy to lessen our carbon impact, ” said Chris Willey, Yoloha Yoga owner.

Additionally, Yoloha also ships all of their products using only 100% recycled or recyclable cardboard and craft paper and never using single-use plastic.  All of their gear is manufactured with cork, which is obtained through one of the most environmentally friendly harvesting methods that does not require any trees to be cut down and actually helps with carbon absorption. To reduce transportation emissions and ensure the highest quality, they manufacture many of their products either in their warehouse or locally. Lastly, Yoloha recently developed Plant Foam, an eco foam material made from sugar cane, creating a mat made with 70% renewable materials.
