Today’s blog highlights our Religious Organization Category winner, The Unitarian Universalist Association, Office of General Assembly and Conference Services.
Carbonfund.org congratulates and thanks them for their commitment to sustainable practices and to the support of important external carbon reductions.
For the past six years, the UUA’s Annual General Assembly has encouraged attendees to make a per-person voluntary donation towards offsetting the carbon emissions created by the General Assembly event. The General Assembly attendees have responded and the annual voluntary emissions donations have offset approximately half of the total emissions associated with the entire event through the partnership with Carbonfund.org. The Unitarian Universalist Association continues to be a leader in the fight against climate change, both in words and deeds. No other organization has attained as high a voluntary attendee participation rate in carbon neutral events program as have UUA members. Unitarians continue to show the vision, leadership and action needed throughout our society to solve the global problem of climate change.
“Our Seventh Principle calls us to this work – respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. Our partnership with Carbonfund.org is a valued component of our efforts to reduce the footprint of our General Assembly.” – Janiece J. Sneegas, Ph.D., Director, General Assembly and Conference Services
