Sigma Advanced Capital Management, LLC, a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and member of the National Futures Association (NFA), is excited to announce that we will partner with the Carbonfund.org Foundation. “We believe that responsible businesses need to be thoughtful, aware, and willing to act. Our company developed a sustainability strategy to reduce emissions, support the fight against climate change, contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and help transition to a low-carbon economy.” explains Carlos Arcila Barrera, CFA, CAIA, Founder and Chief Investment Officer.
At Carbonfund.org, we found an organization that matches our sustainability strategy. We are proud to be part of the Carbonfree® Small Business Partnership Program and continually support its verified forestry projects, which are vital steps in our sustainability plan.
Given our connection with Colombia and through the help of Carbonfund.org, we will support third-party validated and verified forest conservation projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and climate change effects. Sigma Advanced will donate a percentage of its income from its investment programs to the projects supported by Carbonfund.org and located in the Amazon Rainforest by periodically purchasing carbon credits.
Additionally, as part of our sustainability strategy, we are committed to improving our company energy efficiency, as well as, promoting employee education and awareness of sustainability and climate change risk. We have sponsored employees to pursue the GARP Sustainability and Climate Change Risk (SCR) certificate, one of the world’s first programs that prepare candidates to broaden their knowledge of the different types of sustainability and climate risk.
“We are also encouraging remote and virtual work, committed to reducing the use of air and land transport, minimizing the use of paper and printing materials, using environmental certificate products, have a recycling program, among other practices that will enable our company to reduce its carbon footprint and become a carbon-neutral company in the next three years, ” says Carlos Arcila, CIO.
We hope this partnership with Carbonfund.org will help mitigate climate change, positively impact Amazon communities, and inspire other asset managers to take similar actions.
“On behalf of Carbonfund.org Foundation, I commend Sigma Advanced Capital Management for making this important sustainability commitment and for supporting our climate-critical Amazonian Rainforest Conservation Projects. We join Sigma Advanced Capital Management in the expectation that this leadership will inspire other asset management firms to take similar sustainability steps within their operations.” Linda Kelly, Vice President of Partnerships at Carbonfund.org
