At Fireclay, our goal is to make amazing tile exactly the way you want it.
We are unique from anyone else in that we make every tile to order using recycled materials and sustainable manufacturing practices, all right here in California.
We focus on working directly with you to create the residential and commercial project of your dreams, all in a timely manner and with the greatest customer service in the world.
Our Recycled clay body boasts of over 70% recycled materials, which include post-consumer glass, granite dust, and porcelain from toilets collected to back water conservation efforts in the bay area.
Our Glass line is composed of 100% recycled glass from local window and solar panel production industries.
Our on site recycling practices include water reclamation at cutting and mixing stations, along with rainwater capture onsite at our Aromas, CA factory. Glaze overspray is captured at each
glazing station and used in mixing our recycled clay body. All scrap material and anything considered defective is crushed into an aggregate for making our recycled clay.
We source the vast majority of our recycled and raw materials from local suppliers whom we have trusted for many years. From the glass bottle recycler a mere 15 miles from our factory, to the fireclays that come from the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, we work hard to keep our material sourcing as local as possible. There are a handful of raw materials that cannot be found nearby, but are sourced in the United States.
We see our recycling efforts through to the very end. All orders are packaged for shipment using recycled materials. Shipping materials include 100% recycled boxes, reused shipping crates, and sawdust from a local furniture manufacturer used to cushion shipments (sawdust only costs us a six pack). We also do our best to reuse shipping materials whenever possible.
“We are scavengers at heart and scrappy when it comes to saving resources, therefore we are committed to finding new and innovative ways to reuse cast off materials, and to incorporate
sustainability into all levels of our manufacturing process. We chose to partner with Carbonfund simply because tile is heavy, and we wanted to offset the carbon footprint created by shipping our tile all over the world.” – Eric Edelson, CEO
