High Quality Carbon Offsets from Carbonfund.org

Carbonfund.org Foundation provides high quality carbon offsets from renewable energy, energy efficiency, and forestry projects. High quality carbon offsets are essentially reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from a project that has been independently audited against leading, third-party certification standards. Such standards include the American Carbon Standard (ACR), the Climate Action Reserve (CAR), the Gold Standard, and the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).

Carbonfund.org supports projects around the world, from forest conservation projects in Brazil, to energy efficiency projects throughout the United States, to wind and solar projects in India. To date, Carbonfund.org has supported more than 185 carbon offset, tree planting, and renewable energy certificate (REC) projects across 40+ US States and across +20 counties. To see some of the current high quality carbon offset projects being supported by Carbonfund.org, please see here for our renewable energy project portfolio, here for our energy efficiency portfolio, and here for our forestry project portfolio.

Carbonfund.org’s high quality carbon offsets often provide additional co-benefits (i.e., habitat preservation, improved local water and air quality, good paying jobs, etc.), have market transformation potential, and/or have an inspiring story to share. For instance, Carbonfund.org, in collaboration with its wholly-owned subsidiary CarbonCo, is supporting the forest conservation projects known as the Russas, Valparaiso, Purus, and Envira Amazonia Projects. These projects are Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) projects. Such high quality carbon offset projects, in addition to conserving tropical rainforests and reducing GHG emissions, provide local communities with health clinics, agricultural extension courses, and improved local schools, while also preserving habitat for an extraordinary amount of biodiversity.
