New Carbonfree® Business Partner Green Life Trading Co. (GLTC) has a mission to be a one-stop-shop for products that allow people to reduce their waste and carbon footprint, focusing on alternatives to the single-use and plastic products that we all use every day.
“As a retailer of zero-waste products, environmental commitment is woven into every aspect of our operations—from product sourcing, shipping materials, printing, energy efficiency, and more,” explains Sasha Mazur. “Partnering with Carbonfund.org helps us meet these challenges.”
By partnering with Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon emissions that GLTC cannot reduce, such as fuel for product shipping, GLTC is mitigating the negative environmental impact of their operational emissions. Their annual partnership donation to Carbonfund.org is used to purchase and retire 36 metric tonnes – almost 80,000 pounds – of carbon emissions offsets produced by reforestation projects around the world. GLTC also purchases Renewable Energy Certificates (REC’s) from Arcadia Power to offset electricity emissions from their office.
GLTC’s zero-waste products enable people to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfills, oceans, and other environments where it can harm humans or disrupt ecosystems. Products include items for the kitchen, dining, shopping and storage, body care, kids’ lunch boxes and special holidays gifts under $20.
GLTC ships almost all of their products without using plastic, boxes are post-consumer re-usable boxes and for delicate orders, padded with post-consumer and recyclable paper packing material. Boxes are sealed with a non-reinforced paper tape that uses a plant-based glue and is water activated, so it’s also recyclable and compostable. With the Carbonfree® Partnership Program, GLTC has taken the additional step to neutralize shipping fuel emissions, further demonstrating their commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of their operations and their products.
