Carbonfund.org Foundation is a leading environmental nonprofit. More specifically, Carbonfund.org Foundation is a US-based, 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit providing climate change education and Carbonfund.org also provides financial support to greenhouse mitigation projects. Such projects that Carbonfund.org supports range from wind power projects in Texas, to solar projects in India, to rainforest conservation projects in Brazil.  Furthermore, Carbonfund.org also runs Camp Quinebarge, a traditional co-ed summer camp located in New Hampshire.

There are many environmental nonprofits, ranging from large international organizations to smaller, environmental nonprofits. It is also important to note that these environmental nonprofits work on a wide range of issues. While Carbonfund.org supports greenhouse gas mitigation projects in the energy efficiency, renewable energy, and forestry sectors, other environmental nonprofits work on issues such as climate change adaptation, water pollution and river restoration, and ocean conservation.

For instance, some of the large international environmental nonprofits working on nature conservation related issues include Conservation International (CI), Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Smaller environmental nonprofits include, but are not limited to: Amigos de Sian Ka’an, Imazon, Solar Electric Light Fund, and SOS Amazônia.

There are also standard setting environmental nonprofits such as the Center for Resource Solutions, the U.S. Green Building Council, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

In the voluntary carbon market space, Carbonfund.org Foundation is one of a few environmental nonprofits. In addition to Carbonfund.org Foundation, there are carbon certification standards – such as the American Carbon Registry (ACR), the Climate Action Reserve, the Gold Standard and Verra, which manages the Verified Carbon Standard – that are environmental nonprofits.  Another environmental nonprofit in the voluntary carbon market is Ecosystem Marketplace, which produces the State of the Voluntary Carbon Markets report.
