We have a winner to our latest Eco Tour Vacation Sweepstakes with The Evolved Traveler, featuring a once-in-a-lifetime Costa Rica adventure to world-renowned Lapa Rios Lodge, all arranged by The Evolved Traveler and Cayuga Collection Lodges of Costa Rica. The sweepstakes required only an email address to enter, and participants earned additional entries by making donations to Carbonfund.org to plant trees.
The $1 per tree donations earned participants five bonus sweepstakes entries, in addition to helping with Carbonfund.org’s tree-planting initiatives around the world.
We had tremendous participation, thousands of entrants, and planted many trees with our sweepstakes participants!
One lucky winner was selected for a 7-day luxury journey for two to Costa Rica, courtesy of The Evolved Traveler and Cayuga Collection Lodges of Costa Rica. This incredible journey includes two nights in the capital city of San Jose, complete with sightseeing tours, and 4 nights at the world-renowned Lapa Rios Ecolodge on the breathtaking Osa Peninsula.
At the end of the sweepstakes, we notified our lucky Grand Prize Winner Charlie Vrettos that he’d won this fabulous eco tour vacation, valued at $5,995!
Here’s how Charlie reacted when he learned he was our Grand Prize Winner:
“I grew up on the seacoast of New Hampshire and now live in Boston. I am a startup founder, entrepreneur, and software developer. Sustainability has been an important part of my life for as long as I remember. My years at Vermont Academy and Tufts University, two very environmentally-conscious and community driven schools, turned me into the active citizen that I am today. A number of teachers and professors at these schools profoundly impacted my life and so I am a huge supporter of science and climate change education.
I am also committed to fighting climate change and promoting science-based policy. I applaud fantastic organizations like Carbonfund.org for fighting climate change and supporting energy efficiency, preservation and reforestation of our forests, and using renewable energy. These are 3 areas where every day people can really make an impact by slightly adjusting their lifestyles. I recently used Carbonfund.org’s footprint calculator, and seeing the results, was inspired to change my lifestyle even more and to donate to Carbonfund.org.
I also love to travel, and am so fortunate to be able to go on an incredible trip to Costa Rica, thanks to The Evolved Traveler and Carbonfund.org. I recently spoke with Justin at The Evolved Traveler and his mission really resonates me. The Evolved Traveler is a travel brand that provides trips promoting philanthropy, sustainability, and an increased sense of global community and humanity. In particular, they have scheduled a visit for me at the Lapa Rios lodge in Costa Rica which I am particularly excited about; it is a beautiful lodge in the Costa Rican rainforest and has won numerous social and environmental awards. It is the perfect place for a sustainability-driven travel-lover like myself to visit.
I could not have designed a better trip or picked better organizations to support than Carbonfund.org and The Evolved Traveler. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!”
Charlie and a companion will be heading to Costa Rica later this year, and we’ll post an article about their fabulous experience when they return!
