Since it published its first book in 1986, Brynmorgen Press has earned a reputation for being at the leading edge of developments in metalsmithing and design. Ten years ago, Brynmorgen Press also made the decision to lead the way in environmental responsibility, by joining the Carbonfree® Business Partnership program and compensating for its own operational emissions.
“By supporting renewable energy, reforestation and energy efficiency projects, we were able to become Carbonfree®”, says Tim McCreight, founder and owner of Brynmorgen Press. “We are committed to creating books, but recognize the need to replenish the trees required for our products.”
To date, the carbon offset donations made by Brynmorgen Press have neutralized the same quantity of carbon dioxide as absorbed by planting almost 8,900 trees and growing them for ten years.
Brynmorgen has also kept up with changing technology and currently offers more digital books and videos than any other independent publisher. Brynmorgen Press still prints books on paper but has made a serious commitment to digital publishing and launched Brynmorgen Digital, which includes a clever short video introduction to digital books. In addition to the obvious savings of paper, digital books require no trucks to move trees or books. Brynmorgen Press also makes various informational videos about metalsmithing available for streaming and download, again saving transportation and materials cost.
Carbonfund.org congratulates Brynmorgen Press for its progressive publishing initiatives and for its tenth anniversary Carbonfree®.
