CARBONFUND.ORG FOUNDATION CELEBRATES JUNO FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP IN SUSTAINABILITY AND GREENHOUSE GAS MITIGATION

Carbonfund.org Foundation celebrates our second year of partnership with Juno.
Juno is the NYC-based ride-hail service that set out on a mission to offer top-tier service to customers while also improving the driver experience. As part of its mission to be socially conscious, Juno partners with Carbonfund.org in efforts to conserve our planet, by providing riders an option to make their Juno rides carbon neutral.
Since the program’s inception last year, Juno riders have offset over 41,887,830 pounds or 19,000 metric tonnes of CO2e. This is equivalent to reducing GHG emissions from over 46,000,000 miles driven by the average passenger vehicle, or the carbon sequestered by over 300,000 tree seedlings grown over 10 years.
“We applaud Juno for innovatively providing their riders an opportunity for carbon neutrality,” said Eric Carlson, President at Carbonfund.org, “The program has been a major success and demonstrates their leadership in climate change mitigation.”
A Juno carbon neutral ride involves offsetting harmful greenhouse gas emissions produced by a ride. In order to offset these emissions, they will be reducing them elsewhere, specifically through a forestry project. Forestry projects are a crucial part of supporting our environment. These environmental efforts are not limited to just protecting trees from deforestation and planting new ones. They also work to extend existing tree life and increase carbon storage so that less CO2 is released into the air.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be able to offer our riders the opportunity to make an impact on the environment. We’re looking forward to seeing this program grow, “said Ronen Ben David, CEO of Juno.
Juno’s Carbon Offset Program and the riders who opt in, will help protect over 150,000 acres of native forest in northern Minnesota. They will also help provide a critical habitat for rare species such as the northern long-eared bat and the golden winged warbler.
Juno has also teamed up with Medic Mobile to contribute to their recycling program and aid them on their mission to improve health in hard-to-reach communities.
