Brentwood Home Neutralizes Carbon Footprint of Factory and Shipping
Tuesday, 4 December 2018
For over 30 years, Brentwood Home has been making mattresses and home essentials with a team of local artisans and fabricators in Los Angeles. From the beginning, the company has obsessed over creating products using healthy and ethically-sourced materials, all inspired by a love for the natural world and the company’s home in California.
This year, Brentwood Home took the significant step to calculate the estimated annual carbon footprint from its factory operations and product shipments, then to partner with Carbonfund.org to neutralize those carbon emissions through support of Carbonfund.org’s forestry-based carbon offset projects.
“We make it our corporate responsibility to prioritize the health of our planet as well as the people living on it—while making the highest quality products possible,” says Vy Nguyen, CEO of Brentwood Home. “By partnering with Carbonfund.org, we’re able to further achieve this goal by reducing and offsetting the carbon footprint of our entire factory and shipping process.”
Brentwood Home takes care to ensure that their customer’s sleep is both luxurious and healthy. All Brentwood Home mattresses are Greenguard Gold Certified and non-toxic, free of chemical fire retardants, phthalates, heavy metals, and formaldehyde. The Brentwood Home team of designers and product developers are always looking for the latest materials and technologies that are healthy for their customers and the environment. The company chooses only certified non-toxic materials for all products. At their owned and operated factory in California, they hand-make all products, only produce on-demand, and repurpose material waste into other products. Because Brentwood Home uses only the most durable materials, their goods stand the test of time resulting in fewer mattresses in landfills.
