The National Airline of the Sultanate of Oman has taken a significant step by becoming the first company in the Gulf to produce an annual report through a carbon-neutral production process. The annual report was produced by globally renowned Smart Media - The Annual Report Company who is a partner of The Carbonfund.org Foundation. Smart Media prints and delivers to their clients annual reports that are produced in a carbon-neutral process. All emissions related to writing, design, photography, project consultancy, project management and printing of the annual reports has been calculated, and corresponding carbon credits have been purchased through Carbonfund.org, in support of our energy efficiency, renewable energy and reforestation projects. Oman Air is on a major investment phase. Previously a regional airline, Oman Air is now rapidly becoming a top class international airline. In fact their annual report sports the theme "Gold Standard" to bring out the airline's aspiration of investing in the best of everything. They have created one of the best business classes in the world, with their business class seat judged among the top three in the entire world by Skytrax recently. Carbonfund.org is proud to partner with Smart Media in the carbon-neutral production of annual reports for leading organizations like Oman Air.

Global Basecamps is dedicated to inspiring, empowering and simplifying independent travel to the world's most beautiful and important destinations. The founders of Global Basecamps believe that conservation and capitalism can work hand in hand to protect the planet's cultural and ecological resources and that independent travel furthers the exchange of the ideas, understanding and common heritage necessary to create positive change. And now Global Basecamps is offering a great opportunity for you and a friend to win a great getaway to explore the Inca Trail and trek your way to Machu Picchu. Enter the Inca Trail Giveaway on Global Basecamp’s Facebook page and get an additional entry for each friend you invite to enter the contest. Enter on Twitter by Tweeting about the giveaway and filling out the entry form, and for every Twitter follower that enters through your link, you get an extra entry. Or comment on the Global Basecamp blog, using the same email you used to enter the contest, and you’ll get additional entries. Global Basecamps believes that the best trips involve multiple stops, multiple environments and multiple experiences. Although they no longer live out of backpacks for six months at a stretch, the team at Global Basecamps has found a way to recreate the excitement and sense of discovery in a shorter period of time. It's called basecamping: finding a property that truly helps you to explore an area on short day trips. Global Basecamps scoured the planet to find the hotels and lodges that can help pack as many experiences into a couple of days as possible. Don't have enough time to circumnavigate Patagonia? Check out one of their lodges in Southern Argentina and after three days you'll feel like you had. Got a little more time? There's no better way to check life experiences off of your list than by doing multi-day excursions…that's where the true adventure lies. Travel is about choices and every trip is unique. As a Carbonfund.org partner, Global Basecamps has planted a tree for every one of their trips from the Inca Trail to the coast of Vietnam--and will continue to do so. As travelers trek through Machu Picchu or boat through Halong Bay, Global Basecamps is planting trees in Nepal. Reforestation projects are one of the best ways to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that's in the atmosphere. To date, Carbonfund.org has supported SeedTree’s planting of over 315,000 trees in 21 communities throughout Nepal. The sweepstakes ends on April 1st, so enter early and enter often! Invite your friends along. Soon, you may be trekking to one of the most magical ancient places on earth!

NewGrass® stands alone in the synthetic grass industry in its combination of pricing, quality, service and commitment to being 100% eco-friendly. If you’re considering an artificial lawn application, NewGrass will save time and money today and in the long run … in addition to aiding water conservation, reducing the use of pesticides and helping create a healthier environment. NewGrass is a popular choice for outdoor spaces where children play because it’s eco-friendly and made from recyclable materials, helping to conserve water and eliminate fertilizer and pesticides, therefore avoiding chemical exposure for kids. The eco-friendly synthetic grass is often used in parks, schools, backyards and playgrounds, and earlier in 2011, NewGrass was selected by the NFL and Gatorade for the Super Bowl NFL Junior Training Camp. As a synthetic turf, NewGrass can be installed permanently or can be installed temporarily for multipurpose areas. In a recent installation in Vail Colorado, an area used as an ice skating rink in the winter was converted to NewGrass for other uses in the summer. NewGrass is dedicated to being 100% eco-friendly – made with renewable and recycled resources, and totally recyclable. The EnviroCelTM backing on NewGrass replaces over 90 percent of the petroleum-based polymers found on previous generations with bio-based compounds that are derived from domestically-grown soybeans. On the ground, the backing offers greatly improved drainage, resulting in longer product lifespan. It also means faster and more consistent drainage, which is better for the aggregate base underneath a NewGrass installation, as well as for the surrounding landscaping. The backing of NewGrass also incorporates post-consumer PET plastic from soft drink and water bottles. That makes it – and the entire product – 100 percent recyclable. NewGrass believes that being environmentally conscious means more than conserving water. It means being 100 percent eco-friendly … in their products and in their corporate responsibilities. That commitment is one reason NewGrass was accepted as an Ally in the EPA GreenScapes Program. And NewGrass maintains a Carbon-Offset Pledge. For every square foot of NewGrass installed, the folks at NewGrass make a donation to the Carbonfund.org Foundation, doing their part to contribute to the fight against climate change. These contributions further support their commitment to a safer, greener environment and the reduction of harmful carbon dioxide emissions. The donations to Carbonfund.org help climate change education, carbon offsets and reductions, and public outreach. They also help NewGrass reduce its carbon footprint. So, if it’s time to consider a switch to high-quality, environmentally-conscious synthetic turf, contact NewGrass for your estimate today.

Original Moxie creates hair care products “for the rest of us” – real people, not models or glossy fashion magazines. Moxie creator Rachel Blistein is “one of us” - just a regular person with 'challenging' hair and a knack for creating truly awesome hair products. Rachel personally crafts each product, from customizing herbal infusions to sourcing pure, natural ingredients and fine-tuning Moxie's iconic essential oil fragrances. She’s also a life-long nature lover, so the Moxie products are made from organic, unrefined ingredients that are as chemical-free and environmentally friendly as possible. Original Moxie is committed to using natural ingredients not just because they work, but because they create less of an environmental impact than their chemical counterparts. Natural ingredients also tend to be fully biodegradable and easily composted. “The dried herbs that go into the Original Moxie herbal infusions are lovingly collected and turned into our compost heap, which will, in turn, yield rich, black soil for our gardens,” Blistein said. "Moxie" means bucking convention and doing things your own way -- with spunk, spirit and style -- and that's exactly what the folks at Original Moxie have done. Original Moxie helps customers diagnose their hair care needs based on a combination of three characteristics: Density, Dryness, & Degree of Curl. Original Moxie's exclusive 3-D Diagnostic System™ eliminates the guesswork by helping identify the products that fit the “real you.” As part of its commitment to environmentally safe hair care products and environmentally sound business practices, Original Moxie “reduces, reuses, and recycles.” They minimize the use of disposable products and tools, reuse shipping boxes when possible, exclusively package hair products in recyclable bottles, and have partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset emissions from other business operations that can’t be eliminated. Get your Moxie going and visit www.originalmoxie.com to learn more.

Carbonfund.org Foundation announces a collaboration with The Mutual, a new social enterprise launching today, to be the organization’s official "Air" Cause Partner. Carbonfund.org is proud to be one of the environmental charities partnering with The Mutual in this exciting new concept. The Mutual helps individuals and businesses live and operate more sustainably by connecting them to environmental non-profit Cause Partners in an incentive based model that inspires and rewards positive behavior change. Individuals join for as little as $10 per month and select the environmental non-profit to which they wish to donate. In return, they get unlimited access to program Perks like VIP service, early access to tickets and discounts from partner businesses such as Brooklyn Brewery, uncommon goods and Zimride, in effect creating an "economy for good". The Mutual has taken the best of reward programs and charitable giving and merged the two in a model that provides incentives to both individuals and businesses to participate. “The problem with bringing about significant change is that no one has made it easy. With The Mutual, we make doing good easy and advantageous for individuals and businesses. It’s really just bringing the business and philanthropic worlds a little closer together in a practical way. We call it profitable activism,” said Dan Vallejo, CEO and Co-Founder of The Mutual. The membership model also provides an enticing alternative to daily deal sites for businesses. There is no cost for businesses to join The Mutual, and The Mutual does not take any cut of the deals offered. Members can either choose a specific cause or spread their donation equally across all five causes, which the Company calls the Smart Model. The Mutual believes the Smart Model allocates members' donations across the right blend of areas to create the greatest collective impact on the environment, and 80% of membership dues go directly to the selected charity or charities. Cause Partners include: • Carbonfund.org – Air • Oceana – Water • The Trust for Public Land – Earth • World Resources Institute – Reform • Center for Ecoliteracy – Education “We are very excited to be partnering with Carbonfund.org as our official Air Cause Partner. We spent months doing due diligence on potential partners and have identified the five that we believe are the best at what they do. Carbonfund was an easy choice as the leader in the offset space. We love how personal and real an offset feels. We’re certain Carbonfund’s measured results will help drive engagement with our individual members.” Said Dan Vallejo, CEO and Co-Founder of The Mutual. Modwalls® is “Making Tile Modern” with easy online shopping and colorful collections inspired by mid-century architecture and modern design. Back in 2005, while searching for tile products for their own home renovations, founders David Bousfield and Rebecca Lonergan were frustrated with the lack of colorful modern tile options available, the high prices and extended lead time to receive tile products. With their backgrounds in high tech, David and Rebecca knew they could bring a traditionally brick and mortar retail experience online. Their goal was to design and stock the modern tile products they were seeking, make these products available for immediate delivery via online purchase, and to provide customer service equal to or better than the hands-on assistance offered at traditional tile showrooms. Modwalls began by offering glass mosaic tile in many colors with custom blending options. From that single product beginning of Brio® glass mosaic tile, they’ve created several other lines, including their Lush® clear glass subway tile with clean modern edges, and colorful retro inspired ModDotz™ porcelain penny round tile. Since 2008, Modwalls has expanded to offer several sustainable tile options including Viridian™ Recycled Glass Tile, ModRocks™ 100% post-consumer Recycled Glass Pebbles, and CorkDotz all Natural Cork Mosaic Penny Rounds made of end cuts from a wine cork manufacturer. All of these products are mesh mounted in square foot sheets or larger as noted, for easy modular installation. The Modwalls staff has grown to a small team of dedicated customer care and shipping professionals. In addition, Modwalls partners with HOPE Services and their workshop of developmentally disabled clients to produce their custom Brio® glass mosaic blends locally. The team at Modwalls is working to reduce their operational carbon footprint in a number of ways. They design and sell glass, porcelain and cork tile collections which emit no VOC’s, and carry an ever expanding line of products made with recycled content including tile grout made of 80% post consumer recycled glass dust. Their packing material is recycled and recyclable, and they donate imperfect and discontinued tile products to Resource Area for Teachers and school art programs, diverting them from landfills. Modwalls is also a CarbonFree™ Partner with Carbonfund.org, offsetting their business shipping emissions by supporting renewable energy projects that reduce emissions while creating cleaner energy sources. “As an online retailer we are concerned about the carbon emissions generated by the shipping of our products. Carbonfund.org is a key partner in our initiative to reduce our company’s carbon footprint,” says Rebecca Lonergan, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Modwalls. Check out the colorful, creative and sustainable tile products from Modwalls for your next remodeling project.

Whatever your financial goals, no matter how big your dreams, you deserve an investment strategy that gives you the greatest reward with the least risk, lowest cost and greatest peace of mind. And the folks at Merriman consider it their job to help you find that strategy. Today, Merriman manages approximately $1.5 billion in investments, giving ongoing financial and retirement planning guidance to thousands of families across the country. Merriman advisors take the time to understand your financial goals and your emotions around money, helping you stay on track by finding and implementing an investment solution tailored specifically to fit you and your risk tolerance. Merriman’s fiduciary responsibilities include putting their clients’ needs first. As a fee-only advisory firm, they are paid only by their clients - their investors - and this enables Merriman to provide the most objective guidance possible. And the firm’s commitment extends to environmental responsibility and sustainable operations. In 2007, Merriman decided to look at sustainability and become a green organization. At first, the goal seemed vast. But the City of Seattle’s Climate Protection Initiative pledged that Seattle would reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 7 percent below its 1990 emission levels by 2012, and created the Seattle Climate Partnership to help achieve these goals. Merriman volunteered to be part of this program and committed to become a green organization. Once Merriman mastered the basics of reducing, reusing and recycling, they moved on to bigger and broader ways to achieve sustainability within their work space. They were inspired to implement green concepts into the design and architecture of their office space, from DIRTT walls to recycled ceiling tiles and motion-sensor lights. The firm’s commitment is proudly proclaimed in each employee’s email signature, a regular reminder of their leadership in this initiative. And their employee recognition program, “Caught You Green Handed,” encourages employees to think and act green. The prize they receive is a green product they can take home, enabling them to continue their green behaviors outside of the office. Merriman posts weekly green tips on the company intranet to keep the concepts fresh and in the forefront. Even with all the positive efforts, Merriman recognizes that the firm still leaves a carbon footprint, so they partner with Carbonfund.org to offset their remaining annual business emissions footprint, and to support the mission and projects of Carbonfund.org. Merriman’s sustainability and environmental conservation programs were initiated by their CEO, and this passion for sustainability and inspiring positive change helps Merriman employees make the world a better place for all its inhabitants.
