For ten years, ONNO t-shirts have improved product sustainability by participating in the Carbonfree® Business Partnership program, neutralizing a portion of their product shipping and transportation emissions. Because ONNO t-shirt company moves raw materials and finished product all over the globe, producing carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels (from boats, trains, and trucks), the company has chosen to balance the environmental impact of those transportation emissions by supporting Carbonfund.org’s forest preservation, carbon emissions reduction and renewable energy projects around the world.
Producing environmentally-conscious clothing is a complicated process. Conventionally-grown cotton has been clearly identified as one of the world’s “dirtiest” crops, accounting for 16% of global insecticide releases – more than any other single crop, according to the nonprofit Environmental Justice Foundation. Synthetic fabrics are, well, just that – synthetics, made from petro-chemicals, releasing large quantities of nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide, and producing toxic waste water, in their manufacturing processes, and are not biodegradable.
ONNO t-shirt company produces its socially-responsible t-shirts using sustainable fibers from bamboo, hemp and organic cotton. Their website provides great information about the fabrics used to make their more sustainably produced shirts. And their long-term commitment to carbon emissions mitigation through investment in Carbonfund.org’s clean air projects makes the partnership between ONNO t-shirt company and Carbonfund.org a great example of true operational sustainability.

Carbonfund.org Celebrates Thirty-Five Partners Reaching Ten Year Anniversaries of Carbon Emissions Reduction ProgramsWritten by Linda Kelly
With the success of COP21 in Paris last December, and the record number of companies and organizations around the world making significant pledges to reduce their carbon emissions, Carbonfund.org is thrilled to celebrate thirty-five of its business partners that have maintained carbon emissions reduction and mitigation programs continuously for the past ten years.
These organizations have shown long-term and consistent leadership in maintaining environmentally responsible business operations. Programs vary from tree-planting campaigns to recognize customers or employees and to celebrate Earth Day, to product shipping or travel and event-related emissions offsets, to full annual operational carbon neutrality.
Our tenth anniversary partners have supported innovative energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, clean air technology and critical forest preservation projects around the world.
Together, these thirty-five organizations have mitigated the negative impact of an astonishing 375 million pounds of greenhouse gases - equivalent to removing 35,810 passenger cars from the roads for a year! WONDERHEADS is a multi-award winning physical theatre company specializing in mask performance and exquisite visual storytelling for adults and children. The works are performed in full-face mask, a wordless form that mixes European larval mask traditions with character mask styles, resulting in a craft rarely seen on the stage today.
Even performance art and storytelling produces carbon emissions. As a touring theatre company, WONDERHEADS recognizes the carbon footprint created by its activities, such as spending a lot of time on the road driving, flying back and forth across the country, staying in hotels, and eating out. To mitigate the impact of the company’s carbon emissions, WONDERHEADS has joined the Carbonfree® Business Partnership and made a donation to support carbon emissions reduction, forest preservation and clean energy technology projects.
“We Wonderheads have been growing more and more concerned about our impact on the environment with all the miles we drive, flights we take, and hotels we stay in, and we feel that it is our responsibility to give back what we are taking,” explains Kate Braidwood, Co-Founder & Artistic Head of WONDERHEADS. “We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by offsetting our CO2 emissions each year through Carbonfund.org.”
In addition to the partnership with Carbonfund.org, the company works to minimize its impact on the environment as much as possible while traveling via recycling, using reusable dishes and utensils, and conserving energy by reducing electricity use. The team also uses recycled goods first when building and designing sets, props, costumes and masks.
Audiences have described the WONDERHEADS experience as watching a living cartoon – the whimsy and imagination of Pixar or Warner Bros in theatrical form. In this distinct style of storytelling, WONDERHEADS step beyond words and ignite the hearts and imaginations of audience members. Now WONDERHEADS has taken steps to move beyond its continuing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by offsetting what remains.

Even organizations that actively seek to fund and support innovations in education and technology have a carbon footprint. Those that maintain a strong commitment to environmentally responsible operations do something about it.
New Carbonfree® Business Partner, The Abe Farag Family Foundation (AFFF), is a great example. In the process of carrying out the foundation’s work, the founding family has a carbon footprint associated with energy usage and travel. Through the Carbonfree® Business Partnership program, The Abe Farag Family Foundation has offset the carbon dioxide emissions created by the founder’s family through support of Carbonfund.org’s clean energy and carbon emissions mitigation projects.
The Abe Farag Family Foundation’s mission is to encourage and fund innovative projects focused on education and technology. The foundation seeks to improve the lives of people across the world by making financial awards that encourage innovation and creativity in the areas of education and technology.
AFFF provides assistance to jumpstart new ideas and solutions to help solve current problems by partnering with and supporting many creative individuals and non-profit education companies around the world. Carbonfund.org is proud to start 2016 in partnership with a leader in funding innovation and maintaining environmentally sustainable operations.
Sustainable Supply is one of the top providers of industrial supplies, restroom products, building materials, and safety products for the commercial marketplace. With over 1,000,000 products available on its website, Sustainable Supply has earned Internet Retailer’s top 1,000 ranking for five consecutive years and a top 1,000 ranking on Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in the U.S. for three years in a row.
Sustainable Supply realizes that sometimes its customers need everyday hardware products that aren’t “green”, like a hammer or safety glasses. To help customers “go green” no matter what kind of product is purchased, Sustainable Supply offers carbon-neutral shipping through Carbonfund.org for all deliveries - at no additional cost to customers.
“We chose to partner with Carbonfund.org because offsetting the carbon emissions from all of our deliveries gets at the heart of what Sustainable Supply does,” states Scott Krueger – LEED AP O+M, Sustainability Communications Manager. “Nobody has manufactured a green hammer yet, so we decided to make those kinds of products a little greener through the delivery process at no additional cost to our customers.”
In addition, Sustainable Supply calculates and neutralizes its annual office energy usage, business travel and employee commuting emissions through donations to Carbonfund.org, supporting renewable energy projects around the world.
Sustainable Supply believes strongly that it is their corporate responsibility to help contribute to a future that is more efficient and healthier for humans and the environment. Sustainable Supply offers telecommuting and bike-to-work programs for its employees, and uses high efficiency lighting and building-wide recycling programs. These programs, along with Carbonfree® operations and shipping services, set Sustainable Supply apart as a smarter option for building green.
Every business has telecom needs – have you re-evaluated yours or do you plan to do so in the New Year? Here’s a simple way to investigate telecom solutions while supporting Carbonfund.org and helping to fight the impacts of climate change.
Carbonfund.org business partner Nice Touch Communications (NTC), based in New York City, was an early leader in charitable giving programs with its Telecom for Charity initiative. NTC is a sales and consulting firm that has been providing voice and data solutions for over 15 years, and they launched Telecom for Charity in 2008. NTC works with businesses, non-profits, charities and other organizations to provide top tier telecom services while also donating 5% of each customer’s monthly telecom bill to their selected charity through the Telecom for Charity program. Nice Touch Communications strives to find the best fit - to improve and optimize service, and to save money for its customers - otherwise, it's just not a fit!
Telecom for Charity (T4C) provides its business customers with the opportunity to support Carbonfund.org right from their monthly telecom bill. As a result, NTC clients and their employees are contributing back to society simply by going about their daily business of making phone calls and using the Internet. Every time a phone call is made, or a webpage is visited, Telecom for Charity customers are adding to their monthly support donations to Carbonfund.org. But the donations do not increase monthly costs. The donations come directly from Telecom for Charity and NTC, made on behalf of each business customer.
To date, Telecom for Charity’s donations have neutralized almost 800,000 pounds of greenhouse gases, equivalent to the carbon emissions created by driving a typical passenger car over 850,000 miles.
"We wholeheartedly believe in what Carbonfund.org is doing; and feel our program can be a great way to generate support with minimal effort for a long time to come," says Jay Frank, Program Director for Telecom for Charity.
For prospective customers and any Carbonfree® Business Partner interested in telecom services, Telecom for Charity will make a donation to mitigate 2.5 metric tonnes of carbon emissions to Carbonfund.org, supporting carbon reduction and clean air project innovation, with no obligation to the prospective customer, just for talking to T4C about their telecommunications environment and telecom needs.
Long-term Carbonfree® Business Partner Skyline Eco-Adventures, the original zipline tour company – 1st of its kind in the USA – received the top votes as Hawaii’s #1 land activity/adventure tour company by Hawaii Magazine's “Best of the Best Readers Choice Awards” for the second year in a row. At each Skyline Eco-Adventures location, guests are treated to great experiences with one of Hawaii's best guide team.
