Carpet Manufacturer Partnering With Carbonfund.org to Provide Customers CarbonFree® Product Offerings

Dalton, GA (December 16, 2008) – Tandus, a leading floorcovering manufacturer headquartered in Dalton, GA, is partnering with Carbonfund.org to effectively offset the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions of its products. In working closely with Carbonfund.org, Tandus has taken a very measured approach to ensure that its CarbonFree® product offerings are conducted responsibly through a third party certification process, producing meaningful results in decreasing the overall level of its GHG emissions.

Tandus recently completed an exhaustive GHG inventory for its US-based operations and conducted GHG Life Cycle Analyses (i.e. carbon foot printing) on its products. This inventory and
carbon foot printing was necessary so that Tandus could offer its customers the option to purchase products that are CarbonFree® certified through Carbonfund.org, the leading nonprofit
carbon reduction and offset organization. For a nominal cost, customers can purchase Tandus’ C&A brand modular or 6 foot roll carpet and have the GHG emissions offset through a registered and credible program.

“Tandus is not only proud to be a part of such a forward-thinking approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but we are honored to have the opportunity to work with an organization such as Carbonfund.org, that so clearly shares our visions and goals for helping to reduce our environmental footprint,” said Glen Hussmann, President and CEO, Tandus.

Carbonfund.org President Eric Carlson commented, “Providing products that are certified CarbonFree® by Carbonfund.org reflects Tandus’ leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in manufacturing. We are proud to be partners with Tandus and applaud their environmental leadership.”

Recognizing that manufacturing processes contribute to the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, Tandus has employed a multi-faceted approach to reduce the carbon footprint of its US-based operations and products. From increasing its use of renewable energy to the use of waste vegetable oil to fuel its manufacturing processes, Tandus remains a committed leader in environmental stewardship.
